Direct laser written waveguide-Bragg gratings in bulk fused silica.
Optical waveguides that incorporate Bragg gratings have been written in bulk fused silica by using the femtosecond laser direct-write method and without the need for lithography or ion-beam techniques. A single manufacturing process is used to create waveguide-Bragg grating reflectors for operation in the C band.
متن کاملPolarization behavior of femtosecond laser written optical waveguides in Ti:Sapphire.
Ultrashort pulsed laser photoinscription of Ti:Sapphire crystals may result in the self-organization of nanoscale material redistribution regions in regular patterns within the laser trace and stress-induced birefringence around the laser trace. We report on the formation of anisotropic optical waveguides in Ti:Sapphire by a procedure that involves femtosecond laser inscription of adjacent nong...

Recently, the quaternary InGaAsN alloy system has attracted a great deal of attention due to its potential application in devices such as next generation multi-junction solar cells and optoelectronic devices for example laser diodes for optical communications in IR region. In this paper, we have investigated the role of nitrogen on the improvement of optical efficiency in InGaNAs nanostructur...
متن کاملDirect laser written multimode waveguides for astronomical applications
In this publication we present the results of a detailed study into directly written multimode waveguides for astronomical applications. We show that waveguides up to 100 μm across can be inscribed with the cumulative heating form of this technique. The waveguides have 2 concentric guiding regions which are elliptical; a core that has an average ellipticity of 1.1±0.1 and an outer cladding with...
